Seniors Living

 

gelder has been involved in Seniors Living since the mid 1990s. The original State Environment Planning Policy (SEPP5) was launched in 1982. The current State Environment Planning Policy housing for seniors or people with a disability (2004 SEPP Amendment No. 2) commenced in October 2007.

gelder has worked on numerous seniors housing projects and have successfully integrated development into the existing suburban fabric. The SEPP outlines standards acceptable to both people with a disability and seniors – these standards encompass accessibility of car parking, bathrooms, kitchen and laundry design. The accessibility of these developments is the key ongoing success.

Hampden Road WAHROONGA

A Seniors Living development on the Upper North Shore designed to maximise light, air and outlook in a garden setting whilst maintaining privacy to adjoining single residences. This development of 8 apartments with lift access from a basement carpark is adjacent a neighbourhood shopping strip in Wahroonga, a leafy North Shore suburb. The surrounding development is single residential dwellings.

This development reflects the newest chapter in seniors and disabled living. The project consists of 40 luxury apartments designed to cater for the downsizers looking to reside in a low maintenance home.

The proposed development provides for integration of seniors and people with a disability into the suburban landscape. the development is located 50 metres from a bowling club access to local shopping and the North Shore rail line.

The apartments are of generous proportions with a  high level of amenity in terms of light, air and interactions with the landscape. Lift access from the basement car park is provided to all apartments.

This Seniors Living development incorporated three existing cottages which were identified within the heritage conservation area. The new apartment building at the rear consists of basement parking with lift access and 8 apartments.
